“Train up a child in the way he should go,
And when he is old he will not depart from it.”
Proverbs 22:6 (NKJV)
“And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up."

For Parents and Teachers
For parents and teachers
Grandma Ellen introduces Ellen G. White through an affectionate book title. She is not presented as the reader’s actual grandmother. The life and teaching of the actual person of Ellen Gould Harmon is the inspiration for these children's Bible studies
Anna, Ben, their families, and their conversations are imagined teaching stories. Historical facts about Ellen White are identified in the adult source notes. No invented dialogue is attributed to Ellen White. Child-facing statements about her teachings are paraphrases, not quotations.
We believe the Holy Spirit’s gift of prophecy was expressed in Ellen White’s ministry. Her writings provide guidance and correction while Scripture remains the standard for all teaching. We also use the title "Spirit of Prophecy" in connection with her ministry and writings. It does not mean that Ellen White is the Holy Spirit.
Use one lesson at a time
Read the story aloud, then read the Bible passage in the NKJV with the child. Discuss the two questions, choose an activity, and finish with the prayer. Allow roughly 15 to 25 minutes, or divide the lesson across several days. We encourage parents and teachers to spend quality time with Children to lead them to Christ and deepen their experience as they grow and mature.
Ages 5 to 6: let children answer orally, draw, and dictate words. Ages 7 to 9: encourage independent reading where comfortable and use the extra writing activity. Children may need different kinds of help regardless of age.
Listen to questions without embarrassment or pressure. Explain unfamiliar words. Praise effort and kindness. A child who needs help, becomes ill, or makes a mistake has not lost God’s love.
Bible passages are referenced rather than reproduced in this draft. This allows families to read them in context and keeps the manuscript ready for a later decision about printed NKJV quotations. You can use a child-friendly version of the Bible.
